The Acer Aspire One 722, which Acer released in April, is the successor of the 11.6 inch netbook and comes at an affordable price. Initially it was powered by an AMD dual-core C-50 1.0GHz processor and Radeon 6250 graphics. But a check done recently shows that Acer has updated its Aspire One 722 netbooks with new AMD’s C-60 and Radeon HD 6290 graphics.

From the moment you look at the AO722 you will realize that it is a step above the rest. The cover is glossy and features a water ripple pattern that sets it apart from the competition. However, that is only the beginning with this machine. It is powered by an AMD dual-core C-60 1.0GHz processor to ensure that it can outperform the average netbook. The processor also features an HD TurboCORE technology that allows it to perform up to 1.33GHz and gives you a more enriching internet experience.

Everything you do and see is featured on the brilliant 11.6 inch HD widescreen LED backlit display. With an ATI Radeon HD 6290 graphics card that boasts 256 MB of dedicated system memory, virtually anything you want to watch, complete or play is possible.

Pros

Much of the AO722 is considered a positive. It has far more RAM than the average netbook. Most provide 1 to 2GB of RAM while this model offers a generous 4GB. The 500GB hard drive should be plenty of space for the average user. While the specs are nice, there are other features that make this netbook a step above the competition. It gives users a built-in webcam, 3 USB ports and an HDMI port. Many of the modern netbooks do not offer those features. Users also have the option to connect to the internet through either Wi-Fi or LAN connections. This is not standard on netbooks. The Multi Digital card reader allows users to take images from their media cards and place them directly on their machine and it is a lightweight model that can be easy to carry from place to place. Of course it also has a larger display than the average netbook as well.

Cons

The biggest con of the AO722 comes simply because it is a netbook. There are no optical drives. An external drive will be needed to add software from CD ROMs or to burn anything to disk. Many of today’s computers operate at well over 2GHz, so a 1GHz processor can be considered a con as well.
